Tinubu Renews IST Chairman’s Appointment, Approves 11 New Members
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed the appointment of the Chairman of the Investments and Securities Tribunal (IST) and approved the appointment of 11 new members to the body.
The move, according to the tribunal, followed recommendations by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, in compliance with Sections 315 and 319 (2) of the Investments and Securities Act 2025.
In a statement on Sunday, Acting Head of Corporate Affairs of the IST, Maria Anodere, described the appointments as a significant boost to the country’s capital market adjudication process.
She noted that the new members bring diverse expertise in law, finance, public service, and the capital market, which would strengthen the tribunal’s role in justice delivery and enhance investor confidence.
The reappointed Chairman is Amos Isaac Azi, Esq. Other members include: Gboyega Oyekanmi, Felix Onwuneme, Shehu Lawal Mandiya, Robert Uchenna Okwuego, Osaze Ize-Iyamu, Ummahani Ahmad Amin, Ali Sadiq Mohammed, Olatunde M. Amolegbe, Udegbulam Athanatius Chukwuemeka, Orya Ungwaga Roberts, and Kamarudee Oladosu.
The new tribunal is expected to be inaugurated on Tuesday.
Explaining its role, Anodere said the IST was established as a specialised body for resolving disputes and enforcing rights in investment and securities transactions.
“It is a critical capital market infrastructure, ensuring fairness, transparency, and integrity in the financial market, and ultimately promoting investors’ confidence,” she stated.
