Kalu, Akpoti-Uduaghan Mourn Late Senator Okey Ezea

…. Describe Him as a Man of Faith and Integrity

Former Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan have mourned the passing of Senator Okey Ezea, who represented Enugu North in the 10th Senate, describing his death as a profound loss to the National Assembly and the country.

Kalu, in a heartfelt message, said the news of Ezea’s death left him “deeply shocked and saddened,” noting that the late lawmaker was more than a colleague — he was a brother bound to him by sincerity, loyalty, and shared moments of spiritual reflection.
He recalled their frequent worship sessions at the Senate’s Catholic chapel, describing those moments as memories that will remain “forever etched” in his heart.

The former Abia governor praised Ezea as a humble, principled, and God-fearing legislator whose voice stood firmly for justice and the wellbeing of his people.
He extended condolences to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Peter Mbah, the Nsukka community, and the entire Enugu State, emphasising that Ezea’s contributions to public service and humanity would remain enduring.

“As I mourn my dear brother, I take solace knowing he lived a life of honour and touched many lives. May his gentle soul rest in peace,” Kalu stated.

In her own tribute, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan described Ezea as a calm, wise, and prayerful man whose spiritual encouragement helped her navigate challenging moments.
She noted that his death is a heartbreaking loss to the Red Chamber, expressing solidarity with the people of Enugu North on behalf of Kogi Central.

“Rest in peace, Distinguished Senator Okey Ezea. Your kindness and prayers strengthened me in my darkest moments. I will miss you dearly in chambers,” she wrote.

Both lawmakers affirmed that the late senator’s passing leaves a significant void in the Senate and across Nigeria, where he was admired for his integrity, compassion, and unwavering dedication to service.
