Ogun State Police Command has arrested a Medical Doctor,Emmanuel Ogah for allegedly stabbing his mother to death.
The Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi made this known on Saturday,adding that the suspect on interrogation confirmed that he killed his biological mother because she was fond of scolding him publicly
He explained further that the suspect committed the crime at 16 Ololade Street,Lafenwa,Itele Ota town of the State,while his arrest was effected following a complaint to the police by his elder brother.
‘The Ogun State Police Command has on the 9th Of March arrested one Dr.Emmanuel Ogah for stabbing his biological mother to death. His was arrested following a complaints from one Cletus Ogah who reported at Itele Ota Divisional headquarters that his younger brother has stabbed his mother one Janet Ogah to death’.
The police spokesman said upon the complaint, the Divisional Police Officer Lukman Raheem led detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.
He said,preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect who has just finished his NYSC program came back home three days earlier and has being having quarrel with the deceased since then.
‘ In his statement, the suspect claimed that his mother was in the habit of insulting and disgracing him in the presence of her apprentices and that he was frustrated into taken the life of his mother’,the police spokesman said.
Oyeyemi said,the corpse of the 62 years old deceased,who was a food vendor had been deposited at the General Hospital Morgue for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation
