2019: What Igbos must do to become Nigeria’s President – PPA chieftain, Iko
A chieftain of the Progressive People’s Alliance, PPA, Ndubue Iko, has opined that Igbos must embrace national politics, if the South East region is to stand a change of producing Nigeria’s President in 2019.
Addressing journalists in Lagos, Iko stressed that Igbos must present a credible candidate for the 2019 election to attract support, adding that Igbo Presidency was long overdue.
Iko, a PPA Candidate for Arochukwo/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the 2015 General Elections, advised the Igbos to be in the mainstream politics to be able to realise the goal of leading the country in 2019.
“For an Igbo man to win presidency in Nigeria, he must embrace national politics. Operating from smaller political parties may not give him the presidency.
The PPA Chieftain called on Nigerians to support an Igbo man for the next president to provide him an opportunity to lead the country.
Described President Muhammadu Buhari as a man of honesty and integrity, Iko noted that his successor must have such qualities to be able to leverage on his, Buhari’s, achievements.
This is coming at a time when former President Olusegun Obasanjo recently advocated for an Igbo President in 2019.
The former President had said, “Irrespective of the thinking of the people ahead of 2019, I personally think that South-East should have a go at the Presidency too.”
